Celebrated American pianist Robin McCabe has established herself as one of America\u2019s most communicative and persuasive artists. McCabe\u2019s involvement and musical sensibilities have delighted audiences across the United States, Europe, Canada and in seven concert tours of the Far East. The United States Department of State sponsored her two South American tours, which were triumphs both artistically and diplomatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As noted by the New York Times, \u201cWhat Ms. McCabe has that raises her playing to such a special level is a strong lyric instinct and confidence in its ability to reach and touch the listener.\u201d The Tokyo Press declared her a \u201cpianistic powerhouse,\u201d and a reviewer in Prague declared, \u201cHer musicianship is a magnet for the listener.\u201d Richard Dyer, the eminent critic of the Boston Globe:  \u2018Her brilliant, natural piano playing shows as much independence of mind as of fingers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her recordings have received universal acclaim. Her debut album for Vanguard Records featured the premiere recording of Guido Agosti transcription of Stravinsky\u2019s Firebird Suite. Critics praised it as \u201cmightily impressive.\u201d Stereo Review described her disc of Bartok as \u201call that we have come to expect from this artist, a first-rate performance!\u201d She was commissioned to record four albums for the award-winning company Grammofon AB BIS in Stockholm, which remain distributed internationally, including the CD \u201cRobin McCabe Plays Liszt,\u201d (AB BIS No. 185).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

McCabe, earned her bachelor of music degree summa cum laude at the University of Washington School of Music, where she studied with B\u00e9la Siki, and her master\u2019s and doctorate degrees at the Juilliard School of Music, where she studied with Rudolf Firkusny. She joined the Juilliard faculty in 1978 then returned to the UW in 1987 to accept a position on the piano faculty. In 1994 McCabe was appointed Director of the School of Music, a position she held until 2009.  She has held a Ruth Sutton Waters Professorship and a Donald Petersen Professorship in the School of Music. In addition, McCabe is a dedicated arts ambassador and advocate for arts audience development, frequently addressing arts organizations across the country. With colleague Craig Sheppard, she has launched the highly successful Seattle Piano Institute, an intense summer \u201cimmersion experience\u201d for gifted and aspiring classical pianists that enjoyed its sixth session in 2015. Also In 2015, McCabe performed and recorded the complete cycle of Beethoven\u2019s ten sonatas for violin and piano, with colleague Maria Larionoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winner of numerous prizes and awards, including the International Concert Artists Guild Competition and a Rockefeller Foundation grant, McCabe was the subject of a lengthy New Yorker magazine profile, \u201cPianist\u2019s Progress,\u201d later expanded into a book of the same title. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1995 McCabe presented the annual faculty lecture \u2014 a concert with commentary \u2014 at the University of Washington. She is the first professor of music in the history of the University to be awarded this lectureship. Seattle magazine selected McCabe as one of 17 current and past University of Washington professors who have had an impact on life in the Pacific Northwest. In 2005, to celebrate its 100th year as an institution, The Juilliard School selected McCabe as one of 100 alumni from 20,000 currently living to be profiled in its centenary publication recognizing distinction and accomplishments in the international world of music, dance, and theater. Today she is a highly- sought teacher at the University of Washington, with students from around the world seeking admission to her studio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

McCabe performs regularly throughout the United States, and in September of 2011 she made her first visit to South Korea. In October of 2015 McCabe gave solo recitals in Beijing, and master classes at the International Beijing Piano Festival.   She appears often as an invited jurist for international piano competitions, most recently in New Orleans, San Antonio, and Vancouver, Canada.  In June of 2016 she is invited to serve on the jury of the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Canadian born violinist Robin Lynn Braun began her musical studies at age five. Winner of the 1994 Ontario Youth Competition, she made her debut at the Centre In the Square Raffi Armenian Theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Braun has recorded and toured with many singer song writers such as, Lady Gaga, Michael Buble, Sarah McLachlan, Diana Krall, Marianas Trench, Brian Adams, Bruce Springsteen, Harry Connick Jr and Il Divo. Spring 2018 Robin performed with Lady Gaga at the 2018 Grammy Awards as well toured as Solo Violinist with legendary Rock band Foreigner. Summer 2019 she will joining Foreigner again on tour in Russia and Germany.

Completing an Honors Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance in Canada she further completed a Masters of Music degree at Indiana University and held a position of Assistant Instructor of Violin at Indiana University.

Immediately following her studies in the States she became a tenure member of the KW Symphony and Section First Violin of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (2004-2014) Current Ms. Braun is in high demand across Canada and America and performs Violin\/Viola on Broadway\u2019s Hamilton, Wicked, Book of Mormon and many others. She is also performs regularly with the American Ballet Theater and American Symphony Orchestra.

She plays on a 1767 Michael Deconet generously gifted by an anonymous donor in 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Pianist Corey Hamm is establishing a unique musical profile performing widely in North America and in Asia as both a soloist and as a chamber musician. His CD of Frederic Rzewski\u2019s hour-long solo piano epic The People United Will Never Be Defeated!<\/em> won Spotify’s Best Classical Recording 2014, and Best Classical Recording at the 2014 Western Canadian Music Awards.  Further recording plans include the complete works for piano by Henri Dutilleux, and a CD of solo works written for him by Canadian composers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Corey Hamm has commissioned, premiered and recorded over 200 works by composers from all over the world. His most extensive collection of commissioned works includes over 60 pieces for PEP (Piano and Erhu Project). Some of these works are already released on two volumes of PEP CDs with two more to come in 2017 and 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has also commissioned dozens of works for The Nu:BC  Collective and for Hammerhead Consort.  As a founding member of Hammerhead Consort, he received the 1993 Sir Ernest Macmillan Memorial Foundation Chamber Music Award, and was winner of the 1992 National Chamber Music Competition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>In recent years, Corey Hamm has, recorded and toured one of the great piano works of the last decades, Frederic Rzewski’s monumental The People United Will Never Be Defeated!<\/em> (Redshift TK431). He is planning further concerts of this masterpiece, notably for Rzewski\u2019s 80th birthday in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Hamm is an award-winning Associate Professor of Piano at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Mark George, President of the Music Institute of Chicago, has enjoyed a unique career making music and connecting people of all kinds to the performing arts. In 2011, the Chicago Tribune named him Chicagoan of the Year <\/em>in classical music. In this same period, Dr. George served as national Board Chair for the Suzuki Association of the Americas and Trustee for the Solti Foundation US, and the Billy Strayhorn Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A highly regarded pianist, he has performed and recorded extensively throughout the United States. Dr. George has held faculty positions at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Case Western Reserve University, Mount Union College and the Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory of Music<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. George previously served as director of the Hartt School Community Division and, director of distance learning at the Cleveland Institute of Music. His work as an interdisciplinary curriculum developer and consultant has rendered the arts and humanities more accessible to diverse communities hungry for knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pianist Sasha Starcevich is currently enjoying a rewarding career as an international performer and teacher with his engaging performances and passionate teaching, both at home and around the globe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a recitalist, he has appeared in many renowned venues such as New York\u2019s Carnegie Recital Hall, Moscow\u2019s Tchaikovsky Hall, and in London\u2019s Wigmore Hall. His debut recital there was met with critical acclaim, and a review in the Musical Opinion stated: \u201cThe repertoire was brilliantly conceived; a thoroughly enjoyable recital at every level\u201d. He has continued to thrill audiences with Concerto appearances, chamber, and solo recitals throughout North America, Europe and Asia. His principal teachers have included Ilana Vered, Peter Frankl, Claude Frank, Boris Berman, Jane Allen and Donna Fishwick. His Doctoral and post-graduate degrees are from Yale University, and his undergraduate degree is from the Saint Louis Conservatory. In addition, Starcevich has worked with Dimitri Bashkirov at the Gnessin School in Moscow, and also with many other world renowned artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has been affiliate professor of piano at the State University of New York-Purchase, and Department Chair of Music and professor of piano at the South Carolina Governor\u2019s School for the Arts. In August of 2011, he joined the faculty of Musicfest Perugia in Italy. Recently, he has given several highly successful lectures, master classes and public teaching sessions in Asia and the United States, and is in great demand for further engagements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His students have established themselves as grand prize winners in national and international piano competitions, and his past students have gone on to pursue serious study at the world\u2019s most renowned musical institutions, such as The Juilliard School, the Curtis Institute, the Peabody Conservatory, the Yale School of Music, and the Royal Academy of Music in England, to name a few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Violinist, Andrew Dawes was born in High River, Alberta. He has been acclaimed as recitalist, chamber musician and soloist throughout North and South America, Europe and the Orient and been celebrated as \u201cone of the most distinguished violinists Canada has ever produced\u201d (Ottawa Citizen). After receiving the Prix de Virtuosite from the Conservatoire in Geneva, Switzerland with the highest marks ever awarded, he became a founding member and first violinist of the Orford String Quartet for 26 years (1965-1991). He gave nearly 3,000 concerts on 6 continents and made more than 60 recordings. In 1992 Professor Dawes was appointed to the faculty of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver to teach violin and chamber music. Previously he taught at the University of Toronto for over 20 years. In 1995-96, he took a leave of absence from UBC to perform as first violinist of the Tokyo String Quartet playing on a Stradivarius violin that was made in 1727 and belonged to Nicolo Paganini. Professor Dawes has served as jury member for the London International String Quartet Competition, the Coleman Chamber Music competition, the Fischoff Chamber Music competition and was the Chairman of the Banff String Quartet Competition (1989 – 2004).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrew has won many awards of distinction \u2013 including the ORDER OF CANADA, the<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chalmers National Music Award, The Canada Council\u2019s Molson Prize and 3 Juno<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Awards. In 2000, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation named the Orford String Quartet as one of \u201cThe Great Canadian Performers of the Twentieth Century\u201d. In 2002 he awarded the Jubilee Medal awarded by Queen Elizabeth II for exceptional qualities and service to Canada. In 2013 Mr. Dawes was given the Governor General’s Lifetime Achievement Award. He is presently director of the Chamber Music Institute at the Vancouver Academy of Music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Lynne Turner joined the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1962, shortly after becoming the first American to win first prize in the International Harp Competition in Israel. Born in Saint Louis, she moved to Chicago at the age of 4 and started piano lessons with her mother, Evelyn, at the age of 8. Her father, Sol Turner, was a violinist in the CSO for 22 years; when she was 10, he introduced her to the harp, which became her chosen instrument. She first performed with the CSO at the age of 14, when she was the featured soloist in a series of youth concerts. Turner studied with Alberto Salvi in Chicago and with Pierre Jamet at the Paris Conservatory; she graduated with highest honors, earning the premier prix, premi\u00e8re nom\u00e9e, hors concours<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After completing her studies in Paris, she auditioned for CSO music director Fritz Reiner. She was 21 when she joined the Orchestra, the youngest musician in a major American symphony at that time. She has appeared as soloist with orchestras and ensembles around the world, including the Israel Philharmonic, the Sienna Festival Orchestra, and the New York Woodwind Quintet; participated in numerous chamber music series; visited scores of schools as part of the CSO\u2019s educational outreach program; and taught at DePaul University and Lake Forest College. In celebration of Israel\u2019s 50th anniversary, Turner performed at a gala concert in Jerusalem featuring first-prize winners of the Israel competition \u2014 a distinguished group representing Australia, France, Italy, Japan and Romania, as well as the U.S. She returned to Israel in 2009 to serve as a judge for the 17th International Harp Competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently in her 54th season with the Chicago Symphony, Turner is listed in Who\u2019s Who in<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sean Bickerton has spent his entire life dedicated to music, studying violin, french horn, piano, singing and acting in his youth, later playing violin professionally in the Victoria Symphony Orchestra while studying violin performance at the University of Victoria. Currently BC Director of the Canadian Music Centre, he was previously Executive Director of the Vancouver Recital Society, and Vice President of Columbia Artists Management Inc. in New York, where he produced North American tours for celebrated European orchestras, managed Grammy Award-winning artists including Yehudi Menuhin and Aaron Rosand, and produced concerts and events in Europe, the US, and Asia. Sean is a co-founder of KultureShock.Net, a website service for more than 160 performing artists including the Emerson String Quartet and Maestro Bramwell Tovey, and has presented web and social media seminars for the Manhattan School of Music, Opera Magazine, the Van Cliburn Competition and Chamber Music America. He has served on the City of Vancouver\u2019s Arts & Culture Policy Council, and the Board of Directors for both the Vancouver Recital Society and Langley Community Music School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2014, she was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada for her achievements as an opera singer, stage director and educator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u8457\u540d\u7537\u9ad8\u97f3\u6f14\u5531\u5bb6\/\u963f\u4f2f\u5854\u5927\u5b66\u58f0\u4e50\u7cfb\u4e3b\u4efb Oswaldo Iraheta <\/strong>has been recognized for his “pure tone filled with emotion.” Since his transition from baritone up to tenor, Oswaldo has sung various tenor roles in the United States and abroad making his international debut at the Royal Opera House Muscat with Maestro Lorin Maazel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oswaldo has performed in premieres of operas including the role of Domingo in Luis D\u00edaz H\u00e9rodier’s El Mozote <\/em>with \u00d3pera de El Salvador. He performed the role of the Prince in Polina Nazaykinskaya’s The Magic Mirror <\/em>for its New York City premiere at the New York International Fringe Festival and most recently, the role of the Shepherd in Dina Pruzhansky’s Shulamit <\/em>in New York City. Other roles Oswaldo has performed include Alfredo (La Traviata), Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi), Count Belfiore (La finta giardiniera), Bardolfo (Falstaff), Ruiz (Il trovatore), Remendado (Carmen), Spoletta (Tosca), Cavaradossi (Tosca), Ferrando (Cos\u00ec fan tutte), and Rodolfo (La boh\u00e8me).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oswaldo has performed with various opera companies in the United States, South America and Europe including the St. Petersburg Opera, New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera, Queens Symphony Orchestra, Roman Borgman Opera Company, Aspen Music Festival, Assisi Performing Arts Festival, \u00d3pera de El Salvador, Opera Circle of Cleveland, Phoenicia International Festival, Knoxville Opera, and the Royal Opera House Muscat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oswaldo is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music and North Park University-Chicago. He studied with renowned tenor Vinson Cole and currently works with Bill Schuman. Oswaldo was a member of the Aspen Opera Theater Center, the Castleton Festival, and has performed with the Martina Arroyo Foundation in New York City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upcoming engagements include performances with the Center for Contemporary Opera, the Connecticut Lyric Opera, the Greve Opera Music Festival in Italy with premieres in the United States and South America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Currently the director and conductor of the Vancouver Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, Rui Shi Zhuo was born in China and educated at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. A long-tenured conductor of the Shanghai National Orchestra, Zhuo came to Canada on a Graduate Studies Fellowship to study composition with Dr. Stephen Chatman and Dr. Keith Hamel at the University of British Columbia, receiving his master\u2019s degree in music composition in 1995. Following this he was appointed Music Director and Conductor at the Jubilation Wind and Percussion Ensemble, as well as professor of conducting, composition, and violin with the Fine Arts Department at Prairie Bible Institute in Alberta, Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April, Zhuo came back from Romania following his hugely successful concert with the Constanta Symphony Orchestra, one of best professional symphony orchestras in eastern Europe, at the Concert Hall of Constanta City in Romania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zhuo won First Prize in the Romania Black Sea Conducting Competition on September 20, 2013, and was engaged for a concert with the Constanta Symphony Orchestra for the 2014-2015 season in Constanta, Romania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His viola composition Village Impressions<\/em> was entered in the final round of the SORODHA International Composition Competition in the Final concert in Antwerp, Belgium, held on June 15th, 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Zhuo had been invited and commissioned to write a symphonic poem entitled, The Light of Ancient Kingdom Shu<\/em> for the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra. The work was premiered in Chengdu and conducted by Zhuo in a multimedia concert on November, 23rd, 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2009-2010, with financial assistance from the Canada Council, three commissioned compositions entitled, Natural World, Primo, and Mountain and Forest<\/em> were premiered and performed at CBC Studio 1<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 14, 2006, his Symphonic Poem Oh! Yangtze River<\/em> was commissioned and given a world premiere by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO) at the International Peace Concert, with financial assistance from the Canada Council and the BC Arts Council. Later that year, the VSO performed his piece Dao Ban for Pi-pa and Chamber Ensemble (2004)<\/em>, a workthat was commissioned and premiered by the VSO. The music was subsequently aired across Canada by the CBC. In addition, Zhuo was nominated for a LEO AWARD<\/em> for his music in the animated film Chinese Violin<\/em> (produced by the National Film Board of Canada) for Excellence in the Category Musical Score in May 2003. In September of 2006, as an associate composer of the Canadian Music Centre (CMC), Zhuo was selected as a representative in the CMC\u2019s online initiative entitled: Composer Portraits\u2014Influences of Many Musics, which highlights the valuable contributions of composers born in other countries to Canadian music.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
