American pianist Jerome Lowenthal has been a Juilliard faculty member since 1991. He has received prizes in international competitions in Brussels, Bolzano, and Darmstadt, and has appeared with major orchestras in the U.S., including Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, National, Baltimore, Cleveland, St. Louis, and Minnesota. He has premiered solo music by Rochberg, Capanna, Reise, and Rorem\u2019s Piano Concerto No. 3. He has played duo recitals with Denis Brott, Itzhak Perlman, Ronit Amir, and Ursula Oppens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lowenthal is a regular participant in chamber music festivals in Sitka, Alaska; Montreal; and Santa Barbara\u2019s Music Academy of the West. He played the New York premiere of Liszt\u2019s Piano Concerto No. 3 with New York Philharmonic. Lowenthal has made numerous recordings of solo concerto and chamber music repertoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lowenthal studied with Olga Samaroff, William Kapell, and at Juilliard with Edward Steuermann. He also studied with Alfred Cortot at the \u00c9cole Normale de Musique on a Fulbright Grant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Praised for his \u201cravishing and simply gorgeous\u201d performances in \u534e\u76db\u987f\u90ae\u62a5<\/em>, pianist David Fung is widely recognized for interpretations that are elegant and refined, yet intensely poetic and uncommonly expressive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a repertoire of over sixty concertos, Mr. Fung regularly appears with the world\u2019s premier ensembles including the Cleveland Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony, the Israel Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the San Francisco Symphony working with conductors such as Marin Alsop, Joana Carneiro, Gustavo Dudamel, Michael Francis, Stanislav Kochanovsky, Lan Shui, and Christian Zacharias. An incisive interpreter of Mozart and Bach, Mr. Fung has collaborated with the Israel, Los Angeles, Melbourne, Orpheus, and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestras, and the Orchestra of St. Luke\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has captivated audiences at such venues as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, the Louvre, Gewandhaus, Palais des Beaux-Arts, and Z\u00fcrich Tonhalle, as well as the major halls in Asia, including the Beijing Concert Hall, Guangzhou Opera House, Hong Kong Town Hall, Seoul Art Center, Shanghai Oriental Art Center, Taiwan National Concert Hall, and the Tianjin Grand Theater. Notable festival appearances include Aspen, Blossom, Caramoor, Edinburgh, Hong Kong Arts, and Ravinia Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Fung garnered international attention as laureate of the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition in Brussels and the Arthur Rubinstein Piano International Masters Competition in Tel Aviv, where he was further distinguished by the Chamber Music and Mozart Prizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is the first piano graduate of the Colburn Conservatory in Los Angeles, where he studied with John Perry, and later worked with Peter Frankl, Claude Frank and Arie Vardi at Yale University and the Hannover Hochsch\u00fcle. Mr. Fung is on faculty at the Manhattan School of Music and University of British Columbia, and is a curator at the Chan Center for the Performing Arts in Vancouver. Mr. Fung is a Steinway Artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Canadian violinist Jasper Wood has established a flourishing reputation as a soloist through his frequent performances with many of North America\u2019s finest orchestras, in cities such as Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, Buffalo, and throughout Europe. He has performed under the batons of Gregory Novak, George Cleve, Georg Tintner, Bramwell Tovey, and Miguel Harth-Bedoya. He has also toured extensively throughout the East Coast, including appearances with Debut Atlantic, Prairie Debut, and throughout Quebec under the auspices of Jeunesses Musicales Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jasper has also garnered acclaim for his dazzling performances as a recitalist and chamber musician which have taken him to major cities worldwide. He has performed at important venues such as Dame Myra Hess (Chicago), Carnegie Weill Recital Hall (New York) and the Toronto Centre for the Performing Arts. Jasper, originally from Moncton, New Brunswick, is equally committed to performing in Canada\u2019s smaller communities, such as the Northwest Territories and other parts of northern Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently residing in Vancouver with his wife and two children, Wood is Artistic Director of the Galiano Concert Society, Chair of the String Division and Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at the University of British Columbia.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Eric Wilson was awarded the Bronze Medal (1971) in the Geneva International Competition and co-winner of the Morris Loeb Prize for Strings (1973) at the Juilliard School. Eric Wilson was solo cellist of the Ensemble of New York in residence at the Lincoln Centre, New York. He was also a founding member of the Emerson String Quartet that won in 1978 the prestigious Walter W. Naumberg competition Prize for Chamber Ensemble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wilson has performed with such eminent artists as Menahem Pressler and Walter Trampler and with the Boston Chamber Soloists, New York Chamber Soloists, Lyric Piano Quartet, Quartet Canada, Pro Arte Quartet and the Melos Quartet. As guest artist, Wilson has appeared at the Wolf Trap; Newport (R.I.); Katonah (N.Y.); Banff, Alberta; Scotia; Meadow Brook and Vermont Mozart Festivals among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With pianist Patricia Hoy, Professor Wilson has performed extensively and received critical acclaim with the release of their CD of Rachmaninov\u2019s Sonata for Cello and Piano and Stephen Chatman\u2019s Sonata for Cello and Piano. In March 2004, Wilson gave a series of masterclasses and recitals in Taiwan including lectures at the National Teacher\u2019s University in Taipei and a recital at the Taiwan National Theatre, also in Taipei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wilson was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to a family of musicians. His father, baritone Kerr Wilson, and pianist mother Thelma, had their own radio program on CBC while still in their teens. As a boy, he performed from memory with his brother Carlisle and sister Kerrine. His niece Kerri Lynn Wilson has an international career as a conductor. Why so much music from this Winnipeg family? \u201cBeats the heck out of freezing!\u201d as Winnipegers would say.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Born in Nice, France, Valerie Muzzolini began to study harp at age seven. At age twenty-three, she was appointed to her current position as principal harpist of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra. Valerie has performed as guest harpist with the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Orchestre Philhamonique de Radio-France, the Mariinsky Orchestra and the Oregon Symphony Orchestra. She is also a very active chamber musician and dedicated educator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valerie studied with Elizabeth Fontan-Binoche in Nice, Marilyn Costello and Judy Loman at the Curtis Institute of Music, and Nancy Allen at Yale University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christie Reside has been the Principal Flute of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra since 2004. Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Ms. Reside earned her Bachelor of Music degree from McGill University as a student of Timothy Hutchins, during which time she won the position of Second Flute with the VSO at the age of 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Reside is a passionate chamber musician, and has been invited to participate in several international chamber music festivals, including the Spoleto Music Festival in Italy, the Bellingham Music Festival, and the Mountain View International Festival of Song and Chamber Music. She has collaborated with artists such as Rudolf Jansen, Patrick Gallois, Jonathan Crow, and Yegor Dyachkov. She frequently performs as a soloist and has appeared as such with the symphony orchestras of Montreal, Quebec City, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, and Victoria, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christie Reside is a proud member of the award-winning Standing Wave Ensemble, based in Vancouver. Standing Wave is a new music group dedicated to commissioning and performing works by Canadian and international composers, and they\u2019re excited to have been recently chosen to be Ensemble-in-Residence at the 2020 Gaudeamus Musiekweek in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Reside frequently performs as guest Principal Flute with orchestras around the world. She has previously held the position of Principal Flute of the Seattle Symphony, and has also performed as Principal Flute with both the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. In the fall of 2019 she joined the Montreal Symphony Orchestra for their tour of the Americas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Dailin Hsieh, one of the most talented zheng performers of her generation, is very active on stage as a soloist and chamber music player in Taiwan and abroad. Performing with precision and astonishing techniques, She has been invited to perform in Asian countries, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recent years, Dailin has given many solo recitals internationally and premiered a number of important Taiwanese zheng compositions. Her solo CD \u201cZheng Image,\u201d released in 2014, is a collection of new compositions, and it has quickly met critical acclaim.\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dailin has received numerous awards: nominee of the Best Album in the Traditional Music Category, 22nd Golden Records in Taiwan (Treasures of Zheng: An Album of Zheng Music); Laureate of The National Concert Hall\u2019s Traditional Music Star in the Zheng Soloist Category; Second Prize and the Best Performance of the Designated Work in the 2007 Zheng Competition of the Taipei Chinese Orchestra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bIn 2019, Dailin moved to Vancouver, BC. Focusing her music career in zheng performance and teaching, Dailin is a member of Orchid Ensemble, Naadaleela Ensemble and BC Chinese Ensemble, and she is currently cooperating with Vancouver Inter-culture Orchestra, BC Chinese Orchestra, Allegra Chamber Orchestra, Music on Main, Turning Point Ensemble and NOW Society.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Jun graduated from the China Conservatory of Music. During school, she majored in Erhu with a minor in Guzheng and piano. Upon graduation, she received a bachelor’s degree with honours from the China Conservatory of Music. After graduation, Jun worked at the China Opera and Dance Orchestra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jun has performed with major symphony orchestras in Canada, such as the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Victoria Symphony Orchestra, and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. The Vancouver Chinese Cultural Centre invited Jun to be a soloist in collaboration with the internationally renowned Vega String Quartet from New York. Concert critics from the Vancouver Sun newspaper called it “a brilliant Erhu performance.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jun has released several CDs. In particular, Jun has published a highly academic commemorative CD for the 120th anniversary of Liu Tianhua called “10 masterworks of Liu Tianhua” in collaboration with prestigious Chinese music publishing houses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, Jun plays at the Vancouver Intercultural Orchestra, Vancouver Erhu Quartet and Han Music Ensemble. She is an erhu instructor at Capilano University. She is also the Vancouver alumni association vice president of the China Conservatory of Music.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Zhambai performs the polyrhythmic, hypnotic and deep traditional music of the Shona people of Zimbabwe using the ancient mbira (thumb piano). This magical instrument has been used for spiritual means in Zimbabwe for centuries. The sound is reminiscent of water dropping, spirits talking, ancestors singing and blood pumping. Kurai Mubaiwa is one of Canada\u2019s leading experts on the mbira and in addition to mastering the traditional repertoire, he also composes his own contemporary music for the mbira. In Curtis Andrews he has found an able and willing ally. As a duo, these multi-faceted musicians bring a message of joy and healing to themselves and the audience alike.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Dr. Bogdan Dulu<\/strong> has been on faculty at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra School of Music since 2016. He is a mentor in the Performance Prep Program, teaches piano, and serves as piano department co-chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dulu competed in some of the more prestigious international piano competitions, among them Sendai, Helsinki, New Orleans, Calgary (Honens), Bucharest (Enescu), Cincinnati, and Seattle. He toured extensively across Canada as a signed artist with Jeunesses Musicales and Debut Atlantic. His High-Voltage Piano\/Piano Haute-Voltige program highlighting piano music of Marc-Andr\u00e9 Hamelin reached audiences across Eastern Canada with a marathon tour of 19 solo recitals in 7 weeks. He also toured the Northwest Territories, reaching communities above the Arctic Circle. He has performed in Europe, North America, Asia, and Africa, being equally at home as a soloist as well as a chamber musician, collaborative and orchestral pianist, coach, or public speaker. Radio appearances include NHK Tokyo, YLE Finland, Romanian Radio, KING FM Seattle, WFMT Chicago, and the CBC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Dulu has also taught piano at the UBC School of Music as a sessional instructor. He is a sought-after adjudicator for festivals and concerto competitions, and has given masterclasses at Dalhousie University, University of New Brunswick, and Douglas College, among others. He serves on the advisory committee for the Pacific International Youth Music Society, and is a member of the Canadian Federation of Musicians.
