Indian Artist, CBC “30 Under 30” classical artist

Hriday Buddhdev is a rising star in the world of Indian classical music, known for his soulful artistry on the sarod. Based in Canada, Hriday has studied under the esteemed Ustad Alam Khan, inheriting a deep tradition of the Maihar-Senia gharana. His playing blends technical finesse with expressive depth, captivating audiences across Canada, the USA, and the UK.

In 2023, Hriday was named one of CBC’s 30 Under 30 Classical Artists, a recognition of his unique voice and growing influence. He is also a two-time recipient of the advanced instrumental scholarship from the Alliance for California Traditional Arts (ACTA).

Hriday frequently performs at festivals and cultural events, including a featured lecture-performance at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s Day of Music, where he shared insights into the sarod’s role in Hindustani music. He is also co-host of Tablast, a podcast dedicated to demystifying Indian classical music for new audiences.

Hriday continues to be a passionate advocate for preserving and evolving Indian classical traditions in the global context.
