Awards

Grand Prizes

Three grand prizes will be given to the top competitors in each category (three pianists, three string players and three vocalists).

These 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grand prize winners will receive a certificate, trophy, cash prize, an invitation to perform at the Vancouver International Music Competition gala concert in Vancouver.

Cash Prize: 1st $2000, 2nd $1000, 3rd $500

Grand prize winners will also have the opportunity to be featured in a documentary film, a professional video recording of a performance, a profile spotlight on the VIMC website, the opportunity to attend the masterclass with jury members, and concerto opportunities.

The committee reserves the right not to award cash prizes under exceptional circumstances.


Age Category Prizes

  • Junior Talents: ages 8 and under
  • Young Talents: ages 9–12
  • Young Artists: ages 13–17
  • Artists: ages 18–35

Certificates of Excellence

Medals and Certificates of Excellence will awarded to the Gold, Silver, and Bronze performers from each age category.

Certificates of the Best Performance of A Canadian Composition

Certificates of Merit will be awarded to each age category’s best performance of a Canadian composition. A list of recommended Canadian repertoire can be found by clicking this link.

Certificates of Achievement

Each finalist, along with their teacher, will receive a Certificate of Achievement for their participation in the Vancouver International Music Competition.
